2024: Predict, create, distribute (repeat)

A year ago this month, Apple again did what it does best: predicting, creating and distributing the Future. And we like to think we’ve been helping again too.

As mentioned previously, Apple is particularly good at making an already-here, but very-unevenly-distributed Future more affordable and accessible for the rest of us.

To quote Steve Jobs quoting Wayne Gretzky: “skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.”

When Apple shipped the Vision Pro on February 6, 2024, they did it again. They predicted the Future of “mixed reality” headsets based on what was currently out there (where the puck had been), created a big part of that Future (skated to where the puck is going to be), and started the wider distribution process.

As is often the case with big new parts of the Future, there’s still a lot more to do on the distribution side. Apple will have to do much of that work, mainly by making the technology more affordable.

But we like to think we can help too, as we have in the past. Our Art Authority Museum opened the same day Apple shipped Vision Pro, and Apple soon featured it in the Vision Pro App Store.

We hope the Art Authority Museum is not just a groundbreaker in the art museum world (“Step into the future of art”) but also an important part of the app ecosystem that is now critical to the success of just about any major Future technology.

As we’ll talk about more soon, we were quite proud how our Art Authority app contributed to the success of the iPad, becoming the name of our company in the process. We’re very much hoping that history repeats itself with the Vision Pro.
